Contributing Writer

Emma McKee was born in Chicago,  Illinois and grew up in the surrounding suburbs. In 2019, she graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in French.

In college, McKee was a dedicated student volunteer, dedicating her time to a tutoring organization on campus. She also worked with the English Department as the Student Representative, taking part in the tenure process. She also spent much of her time crafting short stories and personal essays, fine tuning her writing skills.

McKee has begun her with freelance work for a Chicago travel magazine and with the Local Telegraph. Though her degree focused on producing short fiction, she has shifted toward more journalistic work in her post-grad career. She hopes her work will be a source of illumination in an increasingly complex world.

When she’s not writing, she’s busy training for a marathon, reading, and baking. Her favorite author is George Saunders and her favorite dessert is  coconut cream pie.

In the future, McKee hopes to strike a balance between writing fiction and nonfiction. She currently lives in the Chicagoland area with her dog.
