Meet Amelia Accardo

Contributing Writer

My name’s Amelia Accardo, 27, and I am from Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. I am a new and aspiring contributing writer to Telegraph Local. In the
mornings from Sunday-Friday, I teach students in China how to speak
English right from my own home. Even though I rather enjoy teaching, I
decided that I need something more challenging. When I attended Centenary College, I graduated with a BA of English and a minor of Fashion. Along with a few Fashion classes, I took a number of writing classes from
journalism to creative writing. Just recently, I wanted to turn my
passion of writing into a career than it being a hobby. Instead of just
keeping my work to myself, I want readers to study my words and really
understand what is happening in today’s world. The idea of having others
feel an emotion from reading my work has always delighted me.

Since I do work from home and wanted to expand my writing career, I
thought that Telegraph Local would be a great start and something I can
jump right into after I am done with my teaching in the mornings. I only
have my parents to thank for my creative gene. Because when I am not
writing, I am either drawing, painting, short stories, or poetry. My
parents just recently moved to Orlando, Florida. I actually chose to
remain  in New Jersey to stay near my long-term significant other and
friends. There may be a few times where I am writing these articles in
the sunshine state to get away from the cold winters of New Jersey.
