When a novel virus sweeps the nation and ends up causing a national pandemic that affects the entire country, it’s almost inevitable that several well known people will end up contracting it.
Even with sports entirely shut down and the future presently on hold, several big name athletes have already come down with the coronavirus, and the Cowboys Ezekiel Elliot was one of them.
News that Elliot had the virus came out a couple weeks ago via several sources via Twitter, and he says his health has since improved.
“I’m feeling good,” Elliott said on Twitch Wednesday, via WFAA. “I would say I had maybe one or two days where I felt symptoms, and even then, it wasn’t too bad. I had a cough and a little bit shortness of breath. Now, obviously I feel good. I feel normal.”
COVID-19 quite obviously affects different people in vastly different ways, with some experiencing little to no symptoms and others describing the virus as rather severe.
“I still can’t work out,” Elliott said. “I got to wait. I could have went and gotten retested this week, I just decided it won’t hurt to wait another week and give myself more time to rest up, but I feel good.”
Most athletes who are in great shape are probably going to have a similar experience to Ezekiel, and there really is no avoiding the virus at this point, so we can take his experience as some good news.
How this will affect the future of sports though, especially for this reason, seems to be the perpetual question that may even remain unsolved after sports continue to attempt to resume.
