Ford anticipates the rebirth of its classic Mustang Mach 1 in the Mustang Mach 1 2021 model. The 2021 Mach 1 has been called the “pinnacle of the pony car lineup.” This pinnacle performance vehicle is slated to run a 5.0 liter V8 engine. This was reported by CNBC on the morning of June 16.
CNBC states that Ford unveiled the new model Mach 1 digitally on Tuesday. CNBC states that the performance car, also known as a “buzz” or “hype” model is not a typical best seller. Yet, the model is considered an important staple of the Ford company culture and signature automaker edge. They are considered a sort of lure model that will attract attention to auto series and lineups.
The Ford Motor Company retweeted a post from Ford Mustang featuring a brief trailer of the new Mach 1 model coming in the Spring of 2021.
“It’s pronounced ‘Mach Won.’ Introducing the all-new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1, the pinnacle of #FordMustang 5.0-liter style and performance. #MustangMach1,” said Ford Mustang official in a tweet that was posted at 11:00 am on June 16.
CNBC also reports that Ford states Mustang Mach 1 will have a higher performance capacity than the current Mustang GT. It is also expected to be more attainable than the current Mustang Shelby CT models.
CNBC states that the 2021 Mustang Mach 1 has followed in the footsteps of other brand hype models such as “Bullitt.” “Bullitt” is a Mustang model built to match the specs of the vehicle that featured in the 1968 film “Bullitt” which starred actor and cafe motorbike racer Steve McQueen.
Jalopnik, the self-proclaimed outlet “obsessed with the cult of cars” states that the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with run at 480 HP. The Mach 1 has made quite the stir of excitement among the so-called cult of cars because it is the first Mach 1 to appear in nearly two decades.
The resurrection of Mach 1 set the gearhead community into a buzz. Muscle Car Definition celebrated the long anticipated release. Citing Muscle Car Definition, the 2021 Mach 1 Mustang will be available as a limited edition model. Muscle Car Definition has also stated that Ford Performance has been “very serious” about this model’s competitive edge against other automotive makers performance vehicles. 2021 Mach 1 has been compared to Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camarro.
Torque News offered some insights into the 2021 era of V8 lineups. The 5.0 V8 is also the engine that was rumored to power some of the new Ford F150s in Ford’s 13th generation. Torque News obtained a document for the 13th generation also featuring a line-up of carry-over performance engines. At the moment, the 5.0 V8 is just wide-spread chatter, and the official engine line up for January 2020 only reveals the status quo of 3.8 liter hybrids engines for the Ford truck line. However, there is also a performance rumor that 2021 will see a V8 engine housed in a Ford Raptor. This is further citing Torque News in a report that was posted in April.
