Lea Michele issues an official apology after Samantha Ware says she made her life a “living hell” while the two appeared on Glee. This was reported by E!online on June 4 at 6:45am.
Ware’s accusations came after Michele posted an impassioned message regarding George Floyd on her Instagram.
Michele released an official statement apologizing to Ware in the wake of backlash.
“When I tweeted the other day, it was meant to be a show of support for our friends and neighbors and communities of color during this really difficult time, but the responses I received to what I posted have made me also focus specifically on how my own behavior towards fellow cast members was perceived by them.
While I don’t remember ever making this specific statement and I have never judged others by their background or color of their skin, that’s not really the point. What matters is that I clearly acted in ways which hurt other people,’ said Lea Michele, as quoted by E!online.
“Whether it was my privileged position and perspective that caused me to be perceived as insensitive or inappropriate at times or whether it was just my immaturity and me just being unnecessarily difficult, I apologize for my behavior and for any pain which I have caused,”said Lea Michele via Instagram, as she was further quoted by E! Online.
Michele’s Instagram post regarding George Floyd seems to be a follow-up to a post that she recently made on Twitter.
This was met with almost immediate backlash from the African American community on Twitter. They made note that Lea Michele received complaints from more than one co-star member of the community.
In the meantime, it appears that Samantha Ware had quite a bit to get off her chest as civil rights protesting continues. The last 24 hours her Twitter has been alight with messages regarding the community of African American actors.
In addition, Ms. Ware has also promoted a GoFundMe fundraiser for the family of the young Mr. James Scurlock. Scurlock, aged but 22 years at the time of his passing, died only days ago. He was shot and killed while attending a protest rally in Omaha, Nebraska. Siouxland News reports that a grand jury will now proceed with an investigation into Mr. Scurlock’s death. Local Omaha, Nebraska police state that Mr. Scurlock was shot by bar owner Jake Gardner during a protest in the Old Market Square on Saturday night. The Scurlock family attorney has not pressed charges against Mr. Gardner at this time.
Ms. Ware took the opportunity to “kill two birds with one stone” when she captioned her tweet regarding Mr. Scurlock’s GoFundMe to apparently directly address Lea Michele.
“Perceived? Purcieved? Purse?
Ms. Ware has also used her Twitter platform to direct funds to the family of Breonna Taylor, who was fatally shot by police in her own home.
