Manfredonia was captured on Wednesday night. A Connecticut state police detective briefed a team of law enforcement officers near a Maryland truck stop at 9pm on Wednesday. As the officers were briefed, the UConn senior approached from the woods. The Hartford Courant states that Manfredonia surrendered himself due to being “tired and scared.”

The Hartford Courant spoke with police Lt. Michael Pendleton who described the scene of Peter Manfredonia’s apprehension.

“As they were talking about his height, 6-3, 6-4, one of the team members turned and approximately 20 feet away from them was a gentleman who was six-foot-four. Det. Michael Zella, at that point who was providing the update, looked over at Mr. Manfredonia and noticed he had his red sneakers on. At that point a side view profile matched the photos that we had. Immediately Det. Zella and the team went over to Mr. Manfredonia with their guns drawn and told him to get on the ground,” Lt. Michael Pendleton, as quoted by The Hartford Courant.

Fox News reported that the Hagerstown Police Department stated Manfredonia was dropped off in the area by an Uber driver.

Manfredonia, age 23, is accused of hacking to death with a machete Ted DeMers, age 62. In Derby, Conn.Manfredonia was also accused of shooting and killing Nicholas Eisele, a former highschool classmate. Manfredonia then forced Eisele’s girlfriend into her 2016 black Volkswagen Jetta before he left the estate. Eisele’s girlfriend was found unhurt in Columbia, New Jersey. Eisele was found shot to death on Sunday.

Fox also reported that Manfredonia was seen to have taken an Uber to a Walmart in East Stroudsburg, PA, not far from the New Jersey border. Police discovered through interviews of locals that Manfredonia walked from the store’s back lot to nearby railroad tracks.

State police also uncovered surveillance footage that placed Peter Manfredonia at a Sheetz in Chambersburg, Pa. A black Hyundai Santa Fe was reported stolen Monday. It was recovered near this Sheetz location.

USA Today reported that in addition to the machete slaying of Ted DeMers, Manfredonia also wounded another man in Willington on Friday.
