Ereck Flowers has done an entire 180 as far as his NFL career trajectory goes within the last year.

8 months ago Flowers was cut by the Giants, the team that drafted him as a lottery pick a few years ago only to have him never live up to the expectations set for him.

Ereck was a was a W-reck at the tackle position for the Giants, often grading as one of the worst offensive lineman in the NFL over his tenure with the team.

He had become the epitome of a bust throughout the NFL scouting community, and NFL Twitter especially. He’s one of many blunders Giants fans can count when talking about the recent struggles of their storied franchise.

After being picked up by the Redskins and moved to the guard spot by offensive coordinator Bill Callahan, he experienced a quality resurgence during his one year in Washington after the position change.

Flowers will now return back to his roots (he played college football with the Miami Hurricanes) as the Miami Dolphins have decided, a bit controversially so, to pick up Ereck on a 3 year $30 million dollar contract.

The Dolphins have let go of several cap heavy players and were clearly tanking last season, leaving them with the most salary cap space in the entire league and plenty of room to risk spending about $10 million a year on an offensive lineman with some upside and pedigree.

This is a rather low risk contract considering the teams cap situation and the fact that they really have little to nothing to lose. Betting on upside and potential is the best case scenario for this franchise right now.
