Princess Beatrice, 31, has ‘scaled down’ her wedding ceremony due to her fathers, Prince Andrew’s scandal. In news of his 60th birthday party, Jenny Bond, a royal expert told U.K.’s talk show LORRAINE, “there was going to be a party at the Buckingham Palace with his charities and friends, but it has been cancelled”. She then expressed her concerns of the upcoming nuptials, “I think they’re going to have to ‘rethink’ the arrangements for Beatrices wedding.” It wasn’t just due to the scandal, but finances also got in the way of the event.

It’s been reported that Princess Eugeine’s ceremony in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle required a lot of security. The security which cost over $2.6 million was paid in taxpayer’s money, according to standard.co.uk. The royal family wants to avoid “issues they’d experienced with ahead of Princess Eugene’s big day,” says radaronline.com. They decided to scale down this upcoming wedding because they did not want a similar embarrassment for Princess Beatrice.
Followers know that Princess Beatrice and Eduoardo Mapelli Mozzi were engaged after a year of dating. The couple announced the news back in September. Unfortunately, her engagement party was cancelled because of the scandal of her father. The Princess feared the media would be more interested in her father than her. Just her luck, she was able to throw the party she originally planned without Prince Andrew’s attendance. With the occurring events, he thought it would not “be a good look,” for the family. Even though he skipped the engagement party, he will still walk his daughter down the aisle.
Once headlines of the scandal were released, the engaged Princess Beatrice was nervous that the “rumors would overshadow” her wedding. Prince Andrew’s relation with the pedophile Jefferey Epstein has really put a pamper on the wedding plans. The Duke of York has several documented statements about his friendship with Epstein. Prince Andrew has reported that he stayed at a number of Epsteins properties. He even stayed in his New York City home, in 2010 after Epstein was convicted as a sex offender reported by townandcountrymag.com.
Back in November, the news of the friendship was not going away. As a way to clear his name, the royal decided to sit down for an interview with Emily Maitlis, a Newsnight journalist. They spoke from the time when he first met Epstein to spending nights at his properties. During the hour long interview, he also denied meeting the victim, Virginia Giuffre. The Prince said, “I have no recollection of ever meeting this lady. None whatsoever,” even though he did agree that it was wrong of him to visit the home after Epstein was a convicted sex offender.
He also does not regret his friendship with Epstein. Throughout the interview, Prince Andrew continued to not show concern for the victims. After receiving public criticism following the Newsnight interview, he had asked ‘Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.”
