Mollie Fitzgerald, 38, an actress whose had a small role in ‘Captain America: The Last Avenger’ is accused of murder. The stabbing of Patricia Fitzgerald, her 68-year-old mother. The arrest occurred after her mother’s body was found in their Kansas City home on Tuesday, December 20th. Shortly after, the police reported everyone involved with the incident has been identified but the case remains under investigation. The original police report said, “A 38 year old, white female, known to the victim, was contacted on scene and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. ” The young actress is being held for a $500K bond. It is unclear if she has a lawyer to speak upon her behalf.
Besides being Stark Girl in ‘Captain America,’ Fitzgerald worked as an assistant to the director of the film, Joe Johnston. The Marvel’s film grossed in $176.6 million. She told a comic book publication in 2011, “Being a part of this production has been one of the best experiences of my life”. Though her role was small, she said “you can’t pay for the experience I’ve had,” according to kansascity.com.
Other than her small role, Fitzgerald was a director and producer as well but worked mostly on low-budget films. She worked on “The Lawful Truth” in 2014 and “The Creeps” in 2017. The Marvel’s film she had a small role in spawned sequels titled as ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ Yet she was not in either of them.
The victim, Patricia Fitzgerald was in the middle of moving back to the Kansas city area. Her brother, Gary Henziker said that she had lived in the Houston area for several decades. He also said that the family grew up on a farm in northeast Missouri. After she studied Physical Therapy at the University of Missouri, she moved to Kansas. Soon after, she moved to Texas where her husband had a law firm. But as a child, she was very active in sports and focused on 4-H. According to her brother, she was the “dairy princess.” After her marriage, she returned to assist the families dairy farm. Even though Mollie Fitzgerald had this incredible movie role, “the dairy farm was a big part” of her mother’s life.
Even when the siblings lived far apart, the two attempted to stay close with each other over the years, Henziker said. He last saw his sister at a basketball game which was coached by his son. Even though he does not know anymore information about the death of his sister, he is still “shocked.” The brother also said with deep sadness, “it doesn’t matter the circumstances – the loss of a sister is what it’s all about.”
According to the online obituary at legacy.com, “Tee was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she was always helping people and animals in need.” The precious Patricia Fitzgerald leaves behind two brothers and a sister along with a number of friends and other family members. Now her daughter, the actress, remains in bars at the Johnson County jail. Mollie Fitzgerald is due in court for Thursday and a funeral was set for Patricia on Friday.
