The first trailer for ‘A Quiet Place II’ is finally here. This content drop marks a major milestone for fans of the first horror hit, ‘A Quiet Place.’
John Krasinski returns to the director’s chair to create the next installment of silent horror. His wife, actress Emily Blunt, also makes a return as the mother leading her family through the not-so-quiet terrors that await them in the post-apocalyptic world.
The first thing we see at the start of the ‘A Quiet Place II’ trailer is a glimpse into the past. Emily Blunt is in a vehicle with her children and terrified people run frantically through the streets. There are people screaming and cars crashing all around. She and the children have no clue what’s happening around them until they get their first glance at one of the extraterrestrial creatures we’ve come to fear from the first film creeping out of a mangled bus. It’s clear this is the past due to the details we already know from ‘A Quiet Place.’
With this first scene being set in the past there is a possibility we could see a return of the father that sacrificed himself for his family, John Krasinski. It may only be for a short portion of the film, but this would be a big service to the fans of the first installment.
After the flashback, the trailer quickly cuts away to what we can presume is a look into life after ‘A Quiet Place.’ We see Emily Blunt leading her children through the urban ruins of a dilapidated city. There will certainly be a journey in the new movie and, given the information the Abbott family discovered about the aliens in the first film, they may have solved the question of how to take on the monsters who are annihilating humankind once and for all.
Krasinski released that he was “quietly” working on the sequel to box office hit back in September of 2018. However, other than Krasinski’s updates, not much has been released about the details of this next installment. As far as the plot goes, we’ll just have to wait and see what it’s truly about. John Krasinski has said, “the film will be less of a sequel and more like the second book in a series.” You can interpret that however you see fit.
Anticipation abounds for horror movie fans across the nation with the drop of this trailer. Don’t fret over the wait though. ‘A Quiet Place II’ is slated to hit theaters on March 20, 2020.
