After 6 years of marriage, Sara Gilbert has announced a split from her wife Linda Perry. Sara Gilbert, star of the hit show “The Conners”, filed for divorce Friday to make it official. Linda Perry is the former lead singer of the ’90s band 4 Non-Blondes. The official divorce documents were obtained by People. While there’s no reason as to why the split happened, Sara Gilbert said incompatible differences led to them to drift apart. August 14th of this year is listed as the official date of separation for the couple. Sara, 44, and Linda, 54, hopes to continue to co-parent their 4 1/2-year-old son Rhodes Emilio.
Sara Gilbert has declined spousal support for Linda Perry and herself. “The Conners” star is also a mom to her other kids, Levi Hawk and Sawyer Jane. Back in April, Sara Gilbert decided to leave the CBS talk show The Talk in order to focus more on her acting career and spend more time with her family. Gilbert spent more than 8 years on the daytime show, causing her departure to be a complete shock. Once “The Conners” gained more popularity, Gilbert began focusing more of her time on producing and acting in the second season. Sara Gilbert was replaced by Marie Osmond for the upcoming 10th season.
Linda Perry is a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter. After 4 Non-Blondes, Linda Perry went on to work with some of the biggest names in the music business. Linda Perry has created hits for the likes of P!nk, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, and many more. Perry had the ability to write successful hits for a number of artists. Some of her most notable works in “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera, “Get This Party Started” by P!nk, and “Superwoman” by Alicia Keys. In 2015, Linda Perry was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.
Linda Perry and Sara Gilbert first fell in love in 2011. After dating for 3 years, Linda Perry proposed to Sara Gilbert in April 2013. Linda and Sara would get married the following year in March 2014. The divorce of Gilbert and Perry is just another one in a long line of high profile couples who have decided to call it quits in 2019. They join singer Jessie J and actor Channing Tatum, Willam and Elizabeth Shatner, and Reba McEntire and Skeeter Lasuzzo in the category of failed relationships.
