Prince Williams and Princess Kate shared their family holiday photos. The Duchess of Cambridge was absent from the photo as it was her that was actually taking the photo. The black and white picture portrays 6 year old George, 4 year old Charlotte, and 1 year old Louis. According to Fox News, The photo was shared exactly one day after Queen Elizabeth II, William’s grandmother, gave her annual Christmas speech reflecting on a tumultuous year, and also following the reveal of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Christmas card on Monday.
The royal family,in fact, did have quite the turmoil this year, facing a rumored rift between William and Prince Harry, the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew‘s association with Jeffrey Epstein and, most recently, Prince Philip’s hospitalization for a “pre existing condition,” which ended on Tuesday. The Queen stated “The path, of course, is not always smooth, and may at times this year have felt quite bumpy, but small steps can make a world of difference.” The image was tweeted to the 1.9 million followers of @KensingtonRoyal and also posted on their Instagram account where they have a further 10.5 million followers.
The accompanying message read: “Merry Christmas! This photograph of The Duke of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis was taken by The Duchess of Cambridge in Norfolk earlier this year. We wish all our followers a very happy and relaxing Christmas Day.” The image comes after the Cambridges decided not to release this photograph on their Christmas card this year. The previous picture, showing the family of five posing on a vintage motorbike, was seen after it went viral. The Cambridges will be attending the annual 11 AM service as they attend St. Mary Magdalene Church along with other members of the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, also known as Prince Harry and Meghan will not be there as they are spending Christmas in Canada with son Archie and Meghan’s mum Doria.
According to tradition, the royals open their gifts on Christmas Eve, while Christmas morning will see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend services at St. Mary Magdalene church; George and Charlotte are expected to accompany their parents for the first time, while little Louis will remain at home under the care of his nanny.
According to Business Standard, Kate, who calls herself an “enthusiastic amateur photographer,” used to post pictures of her family on a regular basis. She was a student of art history at the University of St. Andrews, where she met Prince William. The subject of her study at school was also photography. To conclude, all eyes will be on whether Prince Andrew makes the traditional church service after he was forced to step aside from royal duties in the fall-out from his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Following the service, the Royal Family enjoy a festive lunch back at Sandringham House before settling in to watch the Queen’s Speech at 3pm.
