Die Hard” star Bruce Willis just signed a deal to sell his massive Westchester County, New York, home. According to FoxBusiness, the Emmy Award-winning actor and his wife, Emma Heming Willis, sold the 9,000-square-foot property for $7.66 million. That’s a steep drop from the summer’s $9.39 million listing price and an even steeper drop from the original $12.95 million listing. The recently sold home sits on 22 acres of land overlooking the Croton Reservoir, and the craftsman-style residence sports five bedrooms, a media room and a private wine cellar. It has two garages on the property, a saltwater pool, a pool house and a tennis court. There are three additional cottages on the property, too, each with its own driveway.
The actor and his wife plan on relocating to the West Coast. Other popular figures have been exiting Bedford over the past year as well. Glenn Close put her 11-acre estate on the market in June, while Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas sold their 13.3-acre estate for $15 million in July in an off-market deal. And according to the Real Deal, the star also unloaded real estate in the Caribbean this year. He sold a 13,500-square-foot property in Turks and Caicos for $27 million in August, the second-highest price ever paid for a home on the islands. The star and his wife have been previously splitting their time between their Westchester County estate, their Turks and Caicos summer home and their apartment in Manhattan. Their sprawling Turks and Caicos compound was one of the most expensive piece of real estate in the Carribean. The previous listing for it in March was $33 million but they lowered the cost to sell it for $27 million.
The roughly 13,500-square-foot Asian-inspired compound sits on 7.37 waterfront acres, according to agent Nina Siegenthaler of Turks and Caicos Sotheby’s International Realty. There is a five-bedroom main house, a yoga pavilion and two guest casitas. They bought the site in 2000 and completed the home in 2004. He and Ms. Heming-Willis married there around ten years ago. They often vacationed on the island, spending birthdays and Christmases there. Though their New York home provided extreme privacy, it is only 40 miles from New York City. A saltwater pool as well as a tennis court were also part of the backyard set up besides the three additional cottages and their respective driveways.
The actor stated “The only reasons we are giving it up is because we are so far from our California family, which is why we have decided to return to the West Coast and make our home there,” his wife Emma stated “We wanted our kids to be able to have more room and a yard to run in,”
They are hoping to have more privacy like they did in their New York estate. They share a daughter, Mabel who is 6 and Evelyn who is 4 and they want to keep their childhood normal and away from the papparazzi.
