Christianity Today, a Christian magazine founded by evangelist Billy Graham called for the removal of Donald Trump following the impeachment. On Wednesday, President Trump became the third president in United States history to be impeached.
In 2016, Trump gathered strong support from Christian evangelicals, including Billy Graham and President of Liberty University, Jerry Falwell Jr, despite his history of unsavory comments.
Christianity Today’s editor, Mark Galli wrote that “The facts in this instance are unambiguous: the president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents.”
Galli says that the president’s actions are not only unconstitutional but highly immoral.
Galli adds that Christians who continue to support President Trump should remember who they serve and who they are.
Trump took to Twitter to respond, calling out how the publication leans left and hasn’t associated with the Graham family in years.

Trump attended Billy Graham’s 95th birthday party and regularly spoke highly of the influential religious figure. Prior to his death, Graham voiced his support for Trump during his election in 2016. Trump attended Graham’s funeral in 2018 where he received backlash for tweeting his condolences in capital letters.

Despite President Trump’s support for a religious resurgence in the United States and his anti-abortion policy, Galli urges Christians to remain loyal to the ‘ creator of the Ten Commandments’ and put aside ‘partisan loyalties’.
