Disney does it again! Disney’s empire has created another crowd pleasing, billion dollar making film. Disney’s Frozen II is their 6th movie to make $1 billion dollars. Frozen II made it passed the $1 billion dollar marker this past Saturday, becoming the 6th one to do so this year! Not only this, but Frozen II has also become the seventh biggest animated release of all time worldwide, according to Disney. Keep up the good work over there at Disney, because we are loving it.
Other movies that have made the $1 billion dollar club this year include “Captain Marvel,” “Aladdin,” “The Lion King,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Toy Story 4.” Not only has Frozen II made lucky number 6 happen for Disney, but the new upcoming Star Wars movie coming out on December 20th is expected to be another $1 billion dollar winner. This year is proving to be a great box office year for our friends over at Disney HQ. What’s even more impressive about this accomplishment for Frozen II, the movie had only been released domestically on November 22nd. This means that in less than a month Anna, Elsa, and friends climbed to the $1 billion dollar marker. According to Variety, the Frozen II release helped Disney become first studio ever to top $10 billion in box office receipts in any calendar year.
If there weren’t enough records being hit for Frozen II already, here’s a few more for you. This smash animated follow up film to the original Frozen came out ahead of Thanksgiving, and debuted at $130 million at the domestic box office. This set a record for the month of November for an animated film. If you haven’t caught on to this film yet, clearly it’s a pretty good one. Here’s little recap (no spoilers) on what this animated sequel smash hit is all about. Elsa, the queen of Arendelle, teams up with her sister Anna, along with Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven. The crew ventures out of Arendelle to find out why Elsa has magical powers and where they came from. They made new friends along the way and found out more about the sisters’ past.
With all of this success, people are asking, “will there be another Frozen?” The answer we have right now from the film’s directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee is that there is no other Frozen in the cards at the moment. It is felt that Frozen and Frozen II were one consecutive story that has reached a complete story ending. As for stories coming to an end, the aforementioned Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker coming this weekend is the final movie to the entire Star Wars saga. That means that fans far and wide will be buying their tickets ASAP. Regardless of the recorded disappointment from the previous Star Wars: The Last Jedi, fans will need to know how the Star Wars world will finally be coming to an end. All in all, this means that Disney will be having themselves a very merry holiday season this year, and much to celebrate in the coming of the new year.
