Harry Styles reveals secrets behind his new album “Fine Line”. He spoke with the Rolling Stone with details behind what was called a “joyous” and “an expansive” new album. This interview gave some insights into the character behind the ambitious tracks.
When Rolling Stone met up with Mr. Styles, he was spinning in a wild dance center-floor of the LA Forum, to his new song “Golden”. His new release happened yesterday, December 12. Friday is here and it’s time for the album drop party. Fans have camped in tents, true to a Woodstock music culture fashion. They’ve been waiting in the wings for roughly a week to see Styles ring in the holidays with his new tracklist__all to dance and die for.
Harry Styles, backstage, showed the colors of his regular Joe-side. The Rolling Stone saw him discussing tour with his musical partner Tom Hull, also known as “Kid Harpoon” and his mother. It’s a rare snapshot into the life of a music sensation. Styles’ fame shot into the stratosphere 10 years ago now with his appearance on the UK X Factor along what was once One Direction.
Styles’ music reflects his life in some ways. He spoke about the new single “Lights Up” in the interview with Rolling Stone. As he tells it, “I think ‘Lights Up’ came at the end of a long period of self-reflection, self-acceptance. Through the two years of making the record I went through a lot of personal changes_ I just had the conversations with myself that you don’t always have.”
It shows in his work. ‘Lights Up’ is a declaration of independence from social norms. Styles departs from the buzz notes of modern music. This track has a late 90s, early 2000s feel to the keyboard and vocal chorus_almost calling back the days when Oasis was in the limelight. Yet, it’s also got that modern beat that makes it a chart-topper for the younger crowd.
The music Styles projects in this album follow a lot of this hippie soft rock vibe. He calls his own work a psychedelic take of “Crosby, Stills, and Nash on steroids.” This is greatly the work of a musician who has experimented with a wide array of classic sounds. Yet, it’s also the soft introspection of a 25-year-old who’s already a decade into his career. It’s the merge of vibrant youth’s afterglow and at the same time, it’s the world-weariness of a veteran music industry professional.
His new album is rocking the world wide web. Refinery 29 states that it is “wrecking the internet”. This is the “early Christmas” Styles’ Global fans have been waiting for. You will get the chance to watch it via live broadcast, citing Entertainment Tonight. The show has been dubbed Harry Styles –Fine Line Live at the Forum which will play at 5:30PT (8pm Eastern). You’ll also get the backstage experience via Styles’ Instagram.
