The Irishman also is giving Netflix a boost for it’s promising future in the running for the Oscar of best film according to the NBR. Martin Scorsese is a cinematic risk-taker, and creating an award winning film through the Netflix platform perfectly ties into this. This 3.5 hr criminal drama stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, which are some of the biggest stars in the game. It’s hard to not be a chart-topper with a line up like this, and it was earned. There are though other films out there are right up there with them as well, such as Uncut Gems starring Adam Sandler.

Adam Sandler has stepped out of his comedic roots with his role in Uncut Gems. Sandler plays the role of Howard Ratner, a gambling addict who is trying to get out of a hole he’s dug himself into. This film is a thriller, much different from most other films we’re used to seeing Adam Sandler do. Because of this, he is expecting to keep the winning title for the Oscar as Best Actor as the NBR have predicted. Sandler is not big for media or promotions, but he admitted in a profile with The New York Times that “If I don’t get it, I’m going to f—ing come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay.” Therefore, for all of you Oscar voters out there, make sure Adam Sandler can keep his title as Best Actor. From the looks of it with the NBR, his chance are pretty good. No purposefully terrible movies are in our future!
