College Football Winners & Losers Week 15

By Colby Wonacott

Here is a review of last weekend college football winners and losers

Winner– Joe Burrow

After continuing to look dominant over Texas A&M 50-7, pre-season dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate, seemingly separated from the pack this past weekend. Burrow threw for 352 yards, completing 23 out 32 attempts. Burrow threw a 78-yard pass to Ja’marr Chase as he outran the entire Texas A&M defense. Burrow should be lifting the Heisman at the end of the season.

Loser- Alabama

Loosing to hated-rival Auburn and receiving their second loss of the season. Alabama has zero chance of making it into the college football play-off. Alabama played well with their back up quarterback but fell short with a missed a field goal that would have tied the game.

Loser- Jim Harbaugh

Michigan Wolverines has lost 8 in a row to Ohio State, 5 under the realm of Coach Harbaugh according to Andrea Adelson of espn.com. In Ann Arbor, Michigan the knock of Coach Harbaugh has been he can not beat Ohio State. The game was close all the way going into the second half until Ohio State exploded with points and their defense started shutting down Michigan. My full review of that game can be read here.

Winner- Utah

The 1 loss Utah Utes have played great throughout the season and continue to get the job done game after game. They were a huge longshot to make the College Football Playoffs, but if they beat Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship, then they have a strong case to get in.

Winner- Greg Schiano

Greg Schiano returns to Rutgers, Rutgers’ most winningest coach according to James Kratch. After another laughable season, Rutgers has hired the old coach Greg Schiano in hopes of returning the program to better days. Pressure from boosters and politicians forced the deal to get done after talks were reported to have come to a stop. Good for Greg Sciano to have his old job back.

Winner- Clemson

After coming so close to losing to North Carolina back in week 5, the national media and fans were ripping the Clemson Tigers. People were saying that they lost too many players to graduation or the NFL. That Trevor Lawrence has not played well like his freshman year. There was just a lot of noise surrounding the program. Well ever since that game, Clemson has been a wrecking ball destroying every opponent in sight. Coach Dabo Sweeny has another great team that he has put together. If Clemson wins there Championship game, look for them to create havoc in the playoffs this year.

Loser- Miami Hurricanes

The Canes needed to rebound against one of their ugliest losses in the program’s history after losing to FIU. Then the complete opposite happened by leaving a stinker against unranked Duke. The Duke Blue Devils were on a 5 game losing streak and used Miami to snap that streak. Miami could not get any sort of offense going and freshman quarterback has looked once again worse. Miami is a top tier brand and needs to start playing like one.
