Falcons Could Not Get Over the ‘Hill’

Taysom Hill #7

Taysom Hill scores 2 touchdowns along with a blocked punt in a career night in a win over the recently hot Atlanta Falcons to clinch the NFC South for the 3rd straight year. Hill put his fingerprint early by blocking the Atlanta Falcons first punt of the game, setting up Drew Brees 10 yards from the red zone who score a touchdown over 50% when in the red zone according to teamrankings.com. After an Alvin Kamara elusive 13 yard run to the 3-yard line. Drew Brees shoveled the ball to motioning Taysom Hill to punch it in for a Saints’ TD.

The Falcons, missing there future Hall of Famer WR Julio Jones, the Falcons needed there 2nd year 1st round pick WR Calvin Ridley to increase his production tonight to help out Matt Ryan. Ridley did all he could by making plays all over the field with precise route running while drawing three defensive pass-interference penalties against struggling cornerback Eli Apple before all-pro cornerback Marsown Lattimore was assigned to the hot receiver. Calvin Ridley caught 8 passes out of 10 thrown to him.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Falcons were finally able to reach the endzone with an 18-yard throw to rookie tight-end Jaeden Graham out of Yale University. That was Graham’s first touchdown of his career. Unfortunately, the Falcons had there kicking woes tonight with there “Twitter-Crayzed” kicker Younghoe Koo. Missing 2 of the total 4 kicks, Younghoe did not help Atlanta’s struggling offense.

After adding a field goal by the Saints to make the score 10-6. The star of the night, Taysom hill took a direct snap and outran the entire Falcons’ defense for 30 yards to make the score 17-6 following an extra point.

“If I can step on the field eight to 10 to 15 times, whatever that number is, my goal is to add a spark whenever I can,” Hill said. “I love to be able to go in and add some energy.”

Hill was the lighting in the bottle, while the Saints D-Line headed by there defensive Captain was the thunder. Yes, Atlanta was missing Julio Jones but I’m not sure the Saints D-Line would have given time for Matt Ryan time to throw a deep pass to Julio Jones anyway. Devonta Freeman came back after sitting out two games nursing an ankle injury but could never get going only rushing 51 yards on 17 carries. His longest rush of the day was 6 yards. The Saints’ defense caused 2 ugly interceptions while sacking Matt Ryan 9 times! With the most pivotal sack by Cameron Jordan when it was 4th and 10, put the nail in the coffin as time ran out of the closing game of Thanksgiving night.
