GREENVILLE, Texas –

At least two people were killed and several others hurt when gunfire erupted at an unofficial Texas A&M Commerce homecoming party near Greenville, Texas, multiple news outlets are reporting.

A university spokesperson said “a non-sanctioned homecoming party” was being held at the time, WFAA reporter Jobin Panicker tweeted.

The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting left two people dead and at least 14 others injured, KXAS and KTVT reported.

Authorities said the shooter remains at large, WFAA reported.

In a tweet early Sunday, Texas A&M Commerce police acknowledged that there was an “event” near Greenville “that may or may not have involved students.” The department also refuted an earlier report that the shooting had occurred in Commerce.
